AcuRite 06052M Remote Battery Pack Review
AcuRite hit the nail on the head with the 06052M Remote Battery Pack. Since the AcuRite 5-in-1 weather sensors run on battery power, it can be a real pain to replace the batteries when needed. Not any longer with the 06052M remote battery pack!
In order to ensure the full accuracy of your weather station, siting (or locating) the weather sensor is paramount. You see, it’s important that the weather vane and anemometer are free from any nearby or overhead obstruction. It is widely recommended that this be as close to 33ft off the ground as possible for optimal accuracy. Of course, this isn’t realistic for most using a home weather station. However, many users are mounting off of a roof, barn, or something else that’s not easily accessible from the ground level. That sure makes it hard to replace the batteries in the weather sensor when necessary.
06052M Remote Battery Pack
The remote battery pack (Part No. 06052M) for 5-in-1 weather sensors from AcuRite allows for an easy battery change. The 06052M can be placed remotely from the sensor, up to 30 feet away. It’s easy to install as the battery pack just clips into the sensor’s battery compartment. It has a 30ft power cord so you can secure the pack at a convenient location at ground level. The 06052M comes with integrated hang-holes for easy wall-mounting and includes mounting hardware. The battery compartment is also weather-resistant since you’re installation will be out in all weather conditions. Per AcuRite, the 06052M is compatible with all of their 5-in-1 weather stations. If you have questions/concerns, I’d recommend checking with AcuRite customer service.
Battery Recommendations
For the best product performance, you should use new, name brand alkaline batteries. In areas where outdoor temperatures are going to get below -4 degrees Fahrenheit (-20 degrees Celsius), you should use new, name brand lithium batteries for best performance. Lithium batteries will perform better in temperatures between -4 and -40 degrees Fahrenheit. Note, the 06052M AcuRite remote battery pack requires 4x AA batteries.
Brand new, fresh batteries should always be used with an expiration date of at least 5 years in the future. Please make sure to follow the polarity (+/-) diagram in the battery compartment. It’s always best not to mix or match new with old or different brands or types of batteries.
Final Notes
We highly recommend the 06052M Remote Battery Pack if you’re planning on purchasing an AcuRite 5-in-1 weather station. Although AcuRite has some of the most popular and economical weather stations in their 5-in-1 line, the battery powered weather sensor array has always been a downside. With this product, much of that downside is mitigated since you can easily change the batteries. Click here to check the current price and availability of the 06052M remote battery pack on Amazon!
